Hey! I am posting so late!! It is Wednesday. I decided not to weigh in today as I couldn’t wait and weighed in on Monday. I am a social spouse, and had a meeting for planning some fun spouse socials. I am really excited for the new changes happening, and getting to have a part in planning some fun events 🙂
I am SO much less sore today than yesterday, but it does not mean boot camp was any less torture hard. So while holding weights in a pose, our wonderful instructor attempted to distract us by asking what we were having for lunch today.
I feel like I heard “a shake!” quite a few times. From women I see to be so fit, skinny, and strong.
I was a non-answer as 1. I had no idea. 2. I don’t think my brain was working I was in so much pain.
It really got me thinking though about shakes. I see so many positive and negatives in the media, magazines, etc. Some say its great, some say it isn’t realistic diet.
Do you use a diet shake?
So I will be honest, I have previously judged people who try shakes. I am not exactly sure why, but I feel it is cheating? Then one of my favorite blogs posted a picture and I saw herbalife in the background. WHAT!? But she is so thinnn…. oh. OH!
So then the wheels really started spinning. If all these super thin people are eating shakes twice a day, maybe it is something I should be looking into.
I am not sure I could do the self discipline of it, I really love food. Then again, maybe it would help me detox out some of my cravings??
I also thought it might be good for me as I try to avoid gluten for my autoimmune problems. If I could cut down on the amount of guessing, planning, calorie count, and all that I guess.
Meal-replacement shakes are an effective, easy way to drop pounds. They teach you how to eat less and lose weight quickly and permanently – and the right shake can boost your metabolism by 25%. Who doesn’t need that? – a doctor OZ article about making your own breakfast shake.
I think everyone knows not to skip breakfast, I do. I just always skip. I take a medication for my thyroid that needs 30 minutes to an hour in my system until I eat. I am also never hungry and I have a hard time finding foods I like. Not eating breakfast is definitely messing up metabolism and likely my caloric intake later in the day.
I asked a friend why she drinks shakes only for breakfast.
- Its foolproof weight-loss– drinking the right protein shake, you give your body the nutrients it needs right away.
- Boost metabolism
- Save calories–  you can save an average of 300-600 calories today replacing your old breakfast
- Increase your energy levels, and therefore you get more active and done – burning more!
So I think these ladies may be on to something. We can’t be perfect all the time, so the right shakes that contain nutrients may be a good idea for me. I asked a few people who I noticed use them what they think about using them as one or two meals a day, and if they ever thought about going back to real food. Reply? – they love them, they love not having to think about meal planning, or preparation ( I didn’t even think of that! Easy to-go!) and  that they are not too expensive depending on which you pick. There are so many options out there!
Well I am interested in a few out there, I think I am going to try Vega life, and RAW meal. Things are super super tight right now, so I won’t be buying any 30 dollar shake yet.
I do however have some protein powder from Mr Olympia I made into a dinner shake!
I will try to add a picture tomorrow, I was having some issues with my gadgets. I think I am going to try it with some ground flax meal as well, I have a bunch and just have not used it like I should.
Awesome! I love me some protein shakes! I have a list of my “go to” ones that I’ve found on the facebook page in the “notes” section if you want to check out some more ideas!
Yum! I will have to check it out next time I am on the computer! My phone is not letting me find it.
