I have the best husband ever! It may help that he is my most favorite person in the world and that I love him more than everything.
I grew up with two parents that work for the government- my dad is a farmer. No joke. We farm over 500 acres – the cows, chickens, pigs. E-I-EI-O. Yeah. I went old McDonald on you. Who met a city girl.
Yeah, that was a few years ago.
Every time I go home I SWEAR it is hay season I always end up behind the baler ( bale-er? )
Anyways. What I am getting at is I was a 4-H steer showing, poop shoveling, swine exhibitor, and all the projects that 4-H encompasses even Spring achievement! ( Don’t get me started on how I never had a horse. Life dream.. never completed. ) Then there was tennis and cheerleading. I was never without anything I needed, but my parents were mindful of teaching me about staying under your means.
So I am frugal- to say it lightly. I am the penny-pinching budget crazy lady. I paid off a lot of debt at my dead end Mental Health job that I guarantee I made nowhere near what these people are trying to get Fast food workers think they deserve $15 an hour. It blows my mind honestly since lots of people who go into skilled trades, or even college do not make near this starting out. I survived on 25k a year. It was hard, very hard, but I went without a lot.
But my husband just doesn’t view money like I do. He likes instant gratification and doesn’t like to wait/ “Can’t take it with you when your dead” kind of deal. ( An update on how he is building our family tree wealth and living an 110% debt free life can here)
Anyways. I had decided my Deployment – Keep me busy was “Tinkerbell Half Marathon “ with my Maid of Honor. While registering you may notice from other posts, I am doing Princess again too! Thanks, runDisney- you truly have an addict here.
I have been in dire need of shoes, sports bras, and a sports watch.
So I get my first sparkle tech skirt ordered.
Now I almost died. I just dropped 50 dollars on a pink skirt. Never mind the husband spent 400 on shoes and workout gear ( ok I got a sports bra for 17.00 and running shoes for 100. I shopped sales.. he shopped—not sales. )
Then I just got this bug.
Nordy’s as my mother so lovingly calls Nordstrom’s- is having an anniversary sale. Seriously. I would never shop there. Almost didn’t click on the link. But then .. THESE
‘GEL-Kayano® 19’ Running Shoe (Women) (Regular Retail Price: $144.95)
Shoes that I wanted. But at the store we were at they were charging 160! Now I am not frugal when it comes to my running shoes – I have had so many MANY problems with shoes and such. I would never shy away from paying for the best. The problem is I decided I liked a different pair in the store- 75 dollars less EXP. Love them. But still wanted these. Which before Aug 5th is 104- Nordstrom.com. AH!
Then I love Zella. So I got these
And a sports bra that I am not as Jazzed about but still excited. With prices so low. It is AMAZING! They got me. I used a credit card. ( I would never do this in current 2017 days.. )
Now I am on a shopping spree- and I decided I need to do something running related as a goal to “ earn “my last wish of a running GPS watch. ( don’t tell my husband.. he knows I am freaking out about the deployment coming up hard and fast.. and will buy it for me. I don’t need it!! just WANT! )
I am interested though. What do all the runners in the blogosphere use? Why does it work for you? I would LOVE your help!
