Natural energy bit by bit- A review of EnergyBits.

Happy Thursday! How are you feeling today, did the week wipe you out yet? It is almost Friday.

Well, if you have been following my blog you know I struggle with my thyroid condition- and my energy levels. I have been seeing a lot of #poweredbybits/ Energybits runners, and I have always wanted to give it a try- but the thought of Algae just sounded like a weird trend.  I did try 15 bits from a friend and I got a stomach ache/did not feel anything. So I still I see so many runners and athletes swearing by bits, I REALLY wanted to give it another chance. I mean who does not want a little boost?

Natural – No Chemicals, No Sugar, No stomach distress, 100% organic green algae.

I come from a perspective of LOVING supplements and shakes. I just do, I am not consistent in their use, but I am always sucked into the products. I am ALWAYS struggling with my energy levels with no real pattern, and the nutritionist/ doctors I have been seeing has not really been able to help me.

Recently my little brother who is a health nut ( much healthier than I ) started to get severe allergic reactions to his various products. This SCARED ME. So I started looking into natural running fuels for him. I have not had the allergic reactions he did, but I did really want to find something that would provide him with the nutritional benefits he was seeking, and actually be safe for him.

Energy bits sent me a bunch of educational material with my samples(They must know I LOVE pamphlets and research!) I learned: Energybits are food – not a supplement created in a lab. It is a crop hydroponically grown and harvested. 100% natural. 100% food. They are not magic pills, but they seem to certainly be an amazing super food. This makes a HUGE differences in supplementing workouts, and the body in general. Perfect for a little brother seeming to be allergic to other things. Check out their website for a plethora of info on just how amazing these bits are for you. Here a few of my personal favorite things.

Energybits are:

  • 100% vegan,raw, NONGMO, Kosher
  • No- Caffeine, chemicals, sugar, preservatives, gluten, soy,ok ok- NOTHING artificial!!
  • Over 40 vitamins and minerals
  • Omega 3 and antioxidants
  • 64% protein- ( highest concentration of protein in the world) – Absorbed INSTANTLY ( 2-5 minutes ) in this form unlike other supplements. natural steady energy- no crashing.

Nutritional Comparison Chart energy bits

This is a comparison of products ( most of which I tried) and as much as I LOVE trying new products, this is one I would feel comfortable having my little ( ok. 19 year old ) brother taking.

Lets get powered by bits!

I swallowed the bits, and fast. I first tried to chew them, and well I might have tried to add them to a salad one day, swallowing is the best method.  It is suggested by energybits to swallow them too, as algae is well – algae. Lets put it this way. The smell from inside the tin made my cat go crazy trying to get the tin open. She eats grass daily.

anyways.

I swallowed them 5-10 bits at a time, with a big glass of water about 15 minutes before I went to the gym.  By the time I got to the gym, I was feeling this sense of focus. If you met me, or read my blog – this is something I LACK. While I struggle with energy – if I have not been super good about the timing of my medication for my thyroid I get FOGGY. I also am nutritionally failing. I never take my vitamins and my diet sucks- but looky looky energy bits are giving me vitamins. What a great food for only 1 calorie! I felt amazing! Follow me on my instagram or twitter for pictures of my experience!

The next day I tried bits as a between meal snack. I am a notorious snacker and I never reach for things good for me. Well I do, only if it is ready to go NOW. So energy bits being in a perfect little tin in my purse- Perfecto. I felt full in about 30 minutes, not the full a glass of water would give-but a decent protein base snack to hold you over to the next meal without having a craving 20 minutes later.

Energybits Pros and Cons for me –

Pros-

  • I felt amazingly energized, both in my running workout and strength training.
  • I really did have more focus.
  • Great protein snack.
  • It is 100% natural! *ahem* Paging little brother!
  • I get vitamins I am really needing.

Cons’-

  • The price around $115

Ok, I know I showed a comparison chart and it shows it really is right on par with other supplements per serving. I am going to fess up: I am cheap frugal. I do not buy anything unless it is on sale, and I have compared the price to a million other things to ensure I am getting the best deal.

ENERGYbits are only available at ENERGYbits.com  and Jonathan (their Brand Manager) has shared with me that he’d be happy to connect anyone with a current ambassador to share a discount on a bag of bits – you can email him at [email protected] for more info.

Things they promise- and I felt in just two days of trying bits.

  • Increased Energy
  • Increased Mental Focus
  • Reduced Fatigue compared to how I normally feel after a workout – it lasted all day.
  • Lowered blood pressure. Now I take my blood pressure daily. same times. It was definitely lower on BOTH days I used bits. It also returned to my normal high blood pressure the days I didn’t take bits. I do not know if that is on their brochure- but it should be.
  •  So so much more I could go on forever. Check out Energybits at ENERGYbits.com or on Twitter for lots more info!

But wait !

Energy bits were amazing! AND- Jonathon the brand manager is AWESOME and is going to provide a sample to one of my lucky readers! Enter below – ( US only ).

The discounts are great too. I personally went through Theresa over at Neon is my Color as my bits ambassador for ordering my bag o bits.

I am loving bananas right now — but completely agree with you! I need something that is going to help keep me fuller longer and is going to give me the energy to make it though a workout at the end of my already long day!

Yeah even when I tried protein smoothies, or PB with banana I always got so hungry later. Hope you get to try Energybits!!

I do love to use EnergyBits when I have them, but as a father of 5 it’s hard for me to afford them. I tend to gravitate towards Gatorade Prime or Clif Shot Bloks.

Fingers crossed you get the sample!! I have used Gatorade Prime before, but have not tried Clif shot bloks. I have heard good things though.

They do seem to be loved by all, I enjoy mixing up all my fuels / post workout snacks – it was a great addition.

My favorite fuel lately has been…Swedish Fish lol. I bought some when I was out of normal gels/chews and they surprisingly got the job done for MUCH cheaper. I do prefer the running specific fuels because they are easier to chew but these have worked when I can’t get to the store.
