*I was not compensated for this post, however I did receive these samples for testing. All opinions are my own and I buy Mary Kay from my college roommate Nicole, because I love it!*
So I have a confession: Back in February/March (ish) I started planning a giveaway of my own with my independent Mary Kay consultant Nicole! WOO! I wanted to talk about preparing for spring skin, sunscreen, you know – a giveaway too. I guess Mary Kay had the same idea to prep for Spring because a box showed up on my door with a pretty awesome Spring Sun-kissed look. I can’t thank Mary Kay and Influenster enough!! Want to join influenster for chances like this? Email me at showmeashley(at)gmail.com
I have been pouring over the catalog they sent, and getting so many good ideas for what I want to give away to you my readers! Let me know in the comments if there is anything you would like to see in the giveaway!
On to what was in my box:
- Mary Kay Bronzing Powder –
This was just ok for me. I love bronzer, and hate to say it but the shimmer is what killed it. I just can’t get on the shimmer highway.
- Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder
I never used powder after falling in love with my liquid foundation a year ago. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see me profess my love to this specific foundation and I will MAKE it fit in my budget. The end. The powder is nice though, I have used it every day with my MK CC cream I bought to insure no shine.
- Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color – Shy Blush
I want to shout it from the roof tops how much I LOVE THIS BLUSH!!! I have 2 blushes I never stray from long, cult follower, I meant it! This blush goes on so smooth, and I literally feel like I am glowing. Little bit goes a long way too, which is so rare for blushes I try.
- Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist
This was cool. It got me out of my element. I am really stuck in my product ways. I used to try anything blues, pinks, glitter, neon’s, then I went to college and was like oh smoky eye and liquid liner. To now, where I wear zero makeup. Ever. Unless I feel like I have to, you know so I don’t scare the little kids.
- Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush
This brush was perfect, and I needed it. I have brushes I use from target that were a $1 and I needed them to complete my DIY makeup for my wedding. They do not apply cream anything. So when Nicole introduced me to the cream eye color back in February- I was kind of just like …? I tried to use it but I think the cream was like “ Honey, no.. get a brush!”. And this is that Brush! It applies the two shades I have perfectly, and I am convinced makes the shades extra smudge proof. I used the Apricot twist as a primer on my lids to lock down a shadow when I was testing it out, it was amazing.
- Mary Kay Powder Brush
I liked this brush, it was kind of scratchy to me, but it applied the blush and powder great!
- Mary Kay Lash Love® Mascara
I have been using the same $5 mascara for about 7 years, this almost has me convinced I am stupid not to try other things. It definitely defines my lashes more than my own, and two things I can not live without- Lashes and lip-gloss. You know, if I need to go in public.
- Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush Applicator in Jet Black
This was CRAZY! I did not even want to try this. I have a pen, that has liquid liner in it, that I draw on my eyelids. We have been BFF’s, I have never cheated. This little pot and brush looked messy, and like I was going to end up with jet black goop all over my face! I ended up with far too much on my brush the first time, but when I rubbed my eyes 1001x’s that day ( you know because I never wear makeup anymore,so I forget!) the liner actually NEVER rubbed off onto my hands or face. It was a glorious moment. I have used this 3 times, and all three looks have been different, and although I have an itch to go back to my beloved liquid liner pen, this is a much stronger color. Or if you watch YouTube and they use the word “Payoff” yeah that!! It literally is BOOM awesome. The fact it stays BOOM awesome, and doesn’t smudge? This girl, who sweats just thinking about the summer sun, is pretty excited! TIP: Lightly brush the pot to add some liner, then brush it off on the side ( You can see where I did that in the picture). I really think this will take me years to use up!!
- Mary Kay NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss in Mango Tango
Big fan of this lip gloss line already. I have two in the Pink family. One is missing, and I have tore my house apart looking for it- even though I have literally 300 other lipsticks in the pink family this gloss is my current addiction and I always have one in my purse. Why was I worried about Mango Tango if I love the gloss line so much? BECAUSE ITS ORANGE AND I AM PALE, like Casper meet Ashley pale! I can’t thank everyone enough on instagram for commenting on my #MKGLAM look a few days ago. The lip glosses I have are sheer and have just a touch of color to make you look polished. It is better than the average gloss, and not quick a lipstick/crème. It is orange. It is sheer. it works. I do not get it, but I love it!
