What is the vampire bite for runners? Oh plantar fasciitis, something I have apparently been struggling with since February of this year. I had a super long visit at the podatrist on Friday last week because of this on going pain.
Why so many NEEDLES at the foot doctor? Sigh. So for three weeks -ice, meds, stretch, and no bare feet ever. Oh I forgot, and while I wear running shoes 24/7- there are some terrible hard inserts that make me feel like there are golf ball halves under my arches.
I have been keeping up with my stretching and foam rolling. I have some terrible pain only when I run in the spot on the picture labeled posterior shin splint. It kills. So I have been walking and jogging occasionally. Which means I feel super behind in my Tinkerbell and Princess half marathon training. Anyways, my cardio is being challenged at book camp for now. Todays class was – legs day!
I used my other half of supplements from yesterday. I did not choke down that post workout though. So gross.
Leg day- warm up 2 laps around track and light stretching.
Without pausing, go from each exercise to the next.
8 forward lunges alternating
8 side squats to right
8 narrow squats (feet together sit back)
8 side squats to left
8 Reverse lunges alternating
Repeat above 4x without stopping. I won’t lie I definitely couldnt keep up even after thr first set. So reall it was 32 reps of everything no stopping. My legs felt like jello!
Then run a lap. Then repeat above sequence only 3x. Then another lap. Then you guessed it. 2x the sequence. Another lap. 1 time through the sequence. Last lap!!
So now that my legs were all jello. We sat down and did 50 russian twists. Between each 10 we held the lean back pose for what seemed forever but it was about 15 seconds.
Now. High planks- I have no idea how long. Then climb legs to waist one at a time ( I had a total fail at this point) alternating for 8 then high plank. So I couldnt hold the plank for crap but everyone else was holding it for about 2 minutes then doing that leg thing.
My after bootcamp snack, ehh it was ok. I liked the nuts but the chia seeds were a bit much. A wedding canvas and photo came today!! I love it. I hung it a little crooked, but that is what my husband can do tomorrow.
Any ailments hindering your training? Or any suggestions for my shin splints/feet??
