Which news first?
Yes, I am going to start with the negative. It really isn’t as bad when I get to the positive.
I am still having SUPER FREAKING BAD PLANTAR FACIITIS PAIN. I am SO UNDER PREPARED FOR TINKERBELL HALF MARATHON. Ok.. That was a frustration yell. I apologize. I have regained composure now. On to:
The good news.
- I have started walking on a treadmill at PT.
- The most painful pain is only in my Right Plantar.
- My ankle is out of the BRACE ( unless I am standing or walking for long periods of time. )
- My Left plantar is doing pretty darn good most days with NO pain.
- I am getting out of this –25 degree weather next week and going to California for the first time.
- I am going to Disneyland for the first time ever!!
- I have been re-learning portion control
- I deep cleaned my house gypsy style
Yes. I ended with I cleaned my house Gypsy style. Have you ever watched that TLC show(s ) with American Gypsy’s? *crickets* Yeah. I watch a lot of mind rotting TV instead of being a good human sometimes.. a lot of times.. ANYWAYS these girls spend their entire life cleaning and serving their men. ( my words not theirs) BUT seriously they deep clean like I have never seen and their tricks with vinegar are incredible( which, they cannot pronounce. I am sorry. They struggle with the English language. )
I am currently icing the crap out of my heels( just to keep the left one happy) but I will say after almost 12 months of pain, having one doing well is a blessing. I am unsure why the other one isn’t progressing at all, but hey my plan for the race- KT tape. Compression socks. My inserts. and ice and drugs ibuprofen when I finish.
Am I worried I will not finish?
Yes. I wish I could say I had this great big acceptance that I have been injured for 5 months going on 2.5 months with zero activity besides the bike. I do wish I could say I was ready to accept (fully) that it would be ok to stop on the course.
I want to finish. I want to run. I would like to review how well I did at the 10k I used for my qualifying time.
I finished about one hour and 7 minutes. runDisney used this time to calculate my half marathon time of a little over 2:30 finish for my 13.1. Great right? No. I feel incredibly stupid to be in corral B for tinkerbell. I will be walking in my stupid brace, while all the people dash off. I never want to be fast, a 10 minute mile is speedy enough to me and I am happy with that. I ran my last few runs before getting pulled from activity at 13:02 because I was in terrible pain. I am not wanting to be back at square one, or worse- but I ran that 10k so I could be in the same corral as my friend at Princess half marathon in February this year. Now I feel like I am so undeserving/ have no place to be a injured walker in the front of the corrals.
After a lot of thought.
I decided I will just plug my iPod in and take pictures and pretend to not notice everyone flying ( Haha get it Tinkerbell wings?) by me. I mean I did work so hard to get to this point, and I would like to think the bike kept my leg muscles from just deteriorating to nothing after all the work I put in them. Thing is, I was never out of breath when I was running injured, I just was trying to run on a bunch of injuries. That came to bite me in the butt so badly.. ugh.
