Looking for research on becoming a Vegan?
Pleasure not Meating you by Melody Schoenfeld, MA CSCS may be for you. I was sent a PR copy by my request with no requirement to post, and I just wanted to share what I found.
I have been a fly on the wall with Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle ever since starting our infertility treatment in 2014. Most vegans I have met in person have left me with a bad taste as they are passionate and pushy. I get it we all have passions, but it didn’t help me gather the research I need or crave. I love reading articles and scientific published works with actual proof of hearsay. It isn’t to say I don’t believe in the alternatives that work for people, this is just how I work, and I LOVE to read and learn more all the time, the different opinions of my interests help me form my opinions and I just enjoy it.
ANYWAYS.
It is a science-based, and I feel helped give a clear view on how to eat healthy as a vegan, and sticking with it. Not watching the latest Netflix documentary doing it for a few weeks and then giving it up.
-This book is FULL of unbiased facts about health and veganism, and I enjoyed that there are non-vegan nutrition experts who weigh in on Melody’s information and nutrition recommendations ensuring the accuracy of the book.
- This book is NOT a gorgeous Pinterest book with pretty photos or recipes. The recipe section is down to earth and most sound super tasty, but the pictures are leaving me wishing for something a little more pretty like other cookbooks.
This book is full of science to help you make your own decisions about the vegan lifestyle.
- I LOVE the charts that show you the nutrients in each serving size of foods to ensure you are getting enough protein, vitamins, etc. I was so interested in the list of Zinc foods and how much you have to eat of each etc.
I have always been worried about Soy intake, and there is a nice write up about Soy, the number of isoflavones in each food amount and recommendations for eating soy.
The recipe section starts with how to cook, some easy kitchen gadgets to help you make it easy, and how to make recipes you have vegan as well. I seriously have incorporated all of the deserts for my kiddo already because it is helping me get veggies into his life both with food that is good for him but he loves the taste! Win-win.
This book is for those interested in learning more, needing help while starting out, or seasoned vegans looking for more recipes and information. You can find it on Amazon, where at the time of posting it is free on AmazonUnlimited for Kindle, Barnes and Noble, and other bookstores.
I am off to make Melody’s Chickpea Blondies from the book <3
I’m so glad you like the book! The chickpea blondies are my favorite. 🙂 Please let me know if you have any questions at all.
So much eager to read this book. Living a vegan lifestyle is not easy, but it becomes easy when we understand the science behind it The book looks very informative.
