25 tips to a Healthier Holidays- Tip 7 : Food is not the point.

Holidays are full of family, fun, and food!

I love the holidays, but really I just love getting together with people. I love socializing, events, but I am ALWAYS looking forward to the food! I look forward to date nights because we never eat out- so this means I get SUSHI or whatever else I am craving. I have been working hard at removing the emotional connection I seem to have with food, and thought about it recently while writing up the 25 tips to avoiding weight gain over this holiday season.

Food is not why you are there: Tip 7

You are there to PARTY! You are there to enjoy your traditions, and family. You are there to socialize, give, and enjoy. For me personally, separating food from that seemed near impossible. But a few things worked- Be selective in the treats.

  • Filling? Pass.
  • Sprinkled in sugar? Save it for later.
  • Looks fried or covered in Cheese? Just no.
  • Veggies, Chicken, or Shrimp? YES!

Enjoy some of the healthier treats first. Especially protein, and try to focus on hunger, not socially eating.

Great tips, thanks for sharing! :0) I’ll admit, I’m a “covered in sugar” fan… I always have to watch myself during the holidays.
