Did you know- 3 tips on Flaxseed

So I have been using flax seed for a few years now, every day I feel like I am learning a little bit more.

Tip 1. You NEED Flaxseed in your life.

If you do not know why you should have Flax in your life check out this.

Although flaxseed contains all sorts of healthy components, it owes its primary healthy reputation to three of them:

  • Omega-3 essential fatty acids, “good” fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects. Each tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains about 1.8 grams of plant omega-3s.
  • Lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities. Flaxseed contains 75 to 800 times more lignans than other plant foods.
  • Fiber. Flaxseed contains both the soluble and insoluble types.

Tip 2. You should probably grind them before you use it.

Not only is it fresh ground nutty flax seed, it is letting you get all those wonderful benefits. A whole flaxseed isn’t digested fully by you/if at all. I use whole seeds occasionally for some little muffin things I make, but honestly grinding them up lets you use it in a lot more too. Like did you know they can be used to substitute for eggs in a recipe?

Tip 3. Refrigerate that seed!

Once ground up, you should actually keep flaxseed cool in the refrigerator. I had no idea until I actually read my package the other day! Fine print.. I tell ya.

tips for using flax seed

So tell me, if you are using flax- what is your favorite way to add it into your diet?

Thanks for the tips!! I recently switched over to Chia seeds but may have to try grinding some flax seeds.
