This was ALL part of Day 1 of our magical girls weekend in Disney. I write this blog to help keep family in the loop. Military life tends to keep you far away, so I love using Facebook and my blog to help keep family in the loop.
Ah the first few looks at the park! I literally get goose bumps thinking about it! I really love Disney, and now that I have finally made it to the original Disneyland. Comparing the two? I can’t compare them. They are different, but I love them each so much! I will say I love the new Fantasyland addition and since I have yet to experience it completely finish- I would return to WDW before Disneyland. I am however, hope to move to Las Vegas for our next station so Disneyland would be easier. Right now I will settle for living in Walt’s home State and treasure Kansas City. I am still mad at Anheiser Busch telling Walt Disney a theme park without alcohol would never succeed, therefore sending Walt home and no longer trying to make Walt Disney World in St. Louis. THE NERVE!
It started to get dark, and we had missed all our fast passes so we kind of wandered to the rides we wanted to do.
First up Space Mountain!
Nicole is TERRIFIED of all things heights or roller coaster and I am so proud of her for going on this ride!! I might have made her cry on a ride that I considered to have neither of these qualities later in the weekend… so this is a huge accomplishment!! Conquering fears one magical step at a time.
I had to start qualifying rides at “eggshell” – meaning rides like Ariel’s new ride where you sit in a clam shell and ride slowly around,Haunted Mansion ( she barely trusted me on that one..) etc. Boat- It’s a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. then Roller Coaster – Aka she wouldn’t ride. There of course were rides in between, but there’s a traveling plan book for that.
We started to get hungry and the wonderful app to help us navigate was not working on my phone. I was suddenly picky on what I wanted to eat. Unlike me, but I think it was because I was mad most of the restaurants were closing up when we wanted to eat missing them by 5 minutes of last served.
We missed my favorite part of Wishes, where they play video on the Castle, but caught the tail end. It was still beautiful and my husband messaged me from Afghanistan going “ My Favorite Park, best show ever!!” My parents, husband and I LOVED this show last year. This year the Human Tinkerbell couldn’t jump down the castle I am assuming due to wind, so that was a little sad until the fireworks really got going. I have some video, music, lights, fireworks- You honestly will never love 4th of July ever again after a night at Disney.
We were trying to find a ride, and ended up at a road block. We almost turned around until we started to see the lighted parade! Yay! It was such a great parade. We did not have an optimal viewing point due to there only being a small space to cross the “road” to the other side. I did not feel bad for standing on the curb / sitting on the fence, my feet HURT. Nicole and I awed over the parade, judged parents for letting their teenagers dress like prostitutes- let alone at Disney, and just enjoyed taking a moment to relax.
10pm Castle selfies
I do not know how we were still kicking. I didn’t even take pictures of my food! That is so unlike me. I just loved how it was evening and I still wasn’t cold, I loved just looking at things I have never looked at before, new parts of Fantasyland I didn’t see last time, and just enjoying catching up with my long lost roomie from college
Nicole kicked my previous Astroblaster Champion butt both times we played before heading home. Seriously. Like 2000 to 90k.
We had a short wait to get on the bus to our resort, again so nice not to drive- sit, relax, and enjoy the ride. It was so wonderful to see this site of our room though. I was SO ready to crash.
We stayed in the Mansion District, there were other areas of Riverside, I know some had nicer rooms but I really enjoyed our location. We were close to a bus stop, the feature pool, and the front desk was less than a 5 minute walk away. Read- so was the FOOD COURT!
