Hello! On my blog my highest traffic is from my DietBet review post. You can read it here if you want a refresher. I lost weight, won some money, but did not leave with a good taste in my mouth. I was sitting at the computer and trying to figure out how to motivate myself to revamp the diet department as I am still in my walking cast! I tweeted out to see if any of my fellow bloggers were doing a diet-bet, and instantly got directed to one! I love twitter for its ability to connect so quickly like that, and find info without even hitting a search box. It turned out the DietBet was starting out at the perfect time, and only $20 bucks. I say only- I am not willing to lose it but in our tight budget I had the space to put $20 on hold in the program.
Why DietBet again?
I basically had a problem with the social aspect, not the bet itself. I really think it is like my own weight watchers. I am too cheap to pay for weight watchers, and other programs. Its just not in our budget, but I do think it is great for people who love it! It is motivating, it has check ins, reminders and hopefully a great host.
Speaking of host, I LOVE Patty!! She blogs over at My No Guilt Life, but I have seen her around the sparkle skirt runDisney world before I even realized she had a blog. She is a fabulous host, and more my speed when it comes to my weight loss goals. I think the last diet bet left me so cranky, that I ignored other bloggers telling me “ No try again with us” a little too long.
I am on week 2!
I was getting a little nervous because so far on this diet bet I have:
- Been stuck in my walking cast
- Ate my way through Kansas City with my husband ( Melting Pot, Yard House, breakfast in bed, cocktails.. oh my. )
- Been on a steroid for my ankle
- Constantly STARVING. Like no joke unlimited appetite that is never filled.
And somehow I have lost 4 lbs.
Yeah. I am kind of confused, but I think I have a few things going for me.
What I am doing right:
- Logging my meals again on myfitnesspal. (Add me as a friend! ShowmeAshley)
- Drinking my water again! (I am currently irritated with how gross it tastes to me)
- Lifting weights. (Just arms, and back etc. No standing pretty much machines)
So mid point of half way through the bed I have 8 more pounds to lose to win my money back. I still have two weeks left in this boot. ( At a minimum..going on a full month so far! AHHHH)
I have never lost weight by dieting alone. I am generally start with the exercise, lose weight, eat a little better, eat badly? Work out harder.
So trying to shake up my lifestyle and love for food is hard! Or addiction, how ever you want to look at it. I am working hard at creating meal plans, without breaking the bank. Aldi is helping me do that for sure. We did have a few trips to Walmart, and another grocery store pretty much blowing most of our budget on dumb stuff week one, so we have been working hard at getting creative with what is in our pantry, and fridge. So far we are on week two of living out of the pantry/freezer. I come up with the coolest stuff when it starts to get less “easy”, and since we are doing portion control it is all lasting us longer! We do stop in for milk, fresh veggies, and fruit each week but that has been $15 dollars each stop so here is hoping we are going to do well!!
Try adding a few slices of lime and some mint to your water, or some slices of whatever fruit you like. Cucumbers work as well. It gives it some taste without adding in major calories. Are you eating artificial sweeteners during the day? They have been known to increase appetite as well. good luck and get that money back!
Thanks girl!! I have been using cucumber and it helped some for sure. I have been looking over the labels, no artificial sweeteners so far. I think I need to find some mint !
You’ve got this! I’m glad this diet bet is going better community wise then the first!
Thanks!!
Go you!
My problem with Diet Bet is I didn’t do so well in the weight loss for the first half so I did crazy workouts and ate a lot of soup to lose weight. I didn’t want to lose my money. So, of course, I’ve already gained a few pounds back. Maybe if I was in a smaller group with people I knew but I never felt like the Diet Bet I did was supported. It kinda sucked. I don’t think I’ll do it again.
