So! I love blogging. I tend to take a few breaks here and there, and it is just due to me not wanting to post negatively( most of the time), or have a lot of things I can not put out there in the blogosphere. I am an open book naturally, so reminding myself to shut it and keep my mouth shut requires some evasive maneuvers. I missed you all!
I will get to my title at the VERY end, so if you want to skip to the runDisney bit be my guest 😉
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I certainly did! I got to fly home for a few days, and visit with my family. It was just the thing I was needing! I did enjoy gifts and food, but I just needed to be with family and press reset. There is something about a childhood home for me, the tree, the piles of snow ( it was Michigan, there were not piles when I landed but it certainly snowed while I was there!) Did I mention I got to fly first class home on a direct flight out of Missouri? Scratch that off the bucket list! I should mention getting a direct anything out of Kansas City appears to be impossible feat. So direct is a magical thing I miss.
So – let me just say- I drove across the state to the other side to St. Louis. This involved:
- Waking up at 2 AM to drive 4 hours to the airport. ( Hello Spark )
- Getting on a plane. Getting 30 minutes from Detroit and turning around and going BACK to St. Louis.
- Waiting 5 hours to get the next plane out.
- Getting SPOLIED by Delta First Class Treatment
- Seeing how the other half lives 😉
- Arrived at my parents at 7 pm.
Ok. So I am cheap painfully frugal. I drove and put myself through all of that due to not wanting to pay 600 dollars to travel out of Kansas City for a crappy seat. I paid less than HALF of that for a first class ticket with no layovers out of St. Louis. I did not know First Class could – A. Bags come out first and are tracked meticulously (My bags were lost on our honeymoon. It killed me so my Christmas present filled luggage was in GOOD hands for once.) B. Treated better. I have never liked the customer service on airplanes. I have become bitter about it and even refuse to book some airlines due to repeated rudeness. C. Just come on. First Class. I do not know how I will EVER go back. ( 3 free checked bags, hello worth it 😉 )
Oh but I will sadly. Unless the amazing little box on Delta ever decides to pop up again saying “ Would you like to upgrade to First Class for $50 dollars?” again. Yeah. I only paid 50 FIFTY!! Dollars more to upgrade to Row #1 on a plane and get served my red wine in REAL glass.
Other notable things.
I decided I should buy a lottery ticket sometime. I have been so incredibly lucky this year, and if you think I am being sentimental about my husband, yes that too. I got to marry him and that was the best day of my life, but my luck has been increasing.
- I bought a raffle ticket for a door prize at my Husbands Squadrons Holiday Party and won an ipad. Yeah. If you saw the little microscopic slips we had to write our names on, you would be baffled. I also somehow won a gift card to a store I have never heard of and Zoo Tickets. All of which I am beyond thankful for and SO excited.
They were all things I would never buy ourselves.
How my December goals went.
Well I eventually got in the Holiday spirit and enjoyed it. It is so extremely hard to “feel it” when my husband is gone. 3 Christmas seasons I have spent without him, and I know there likely will be more. It is one of the few things I can not shake. I always feel guilty doing anything fun while he is gone, but that is why I have always tried to spoil him the best I can when he gets back. I am planning something AWESOME ( Frugal. but AWESOME!)
Technically my gift for Christmas was a Printer. I will tack on my Flight home, and my two upcoming Disney trips.
SPEAKING of. . .
I am still not cleared to walk for exercise yet. I even lied and said my ankle and feet were doing fine. Apparently during the massage portion of my Physical therapy she could “tell” they were still inflamed and painful. I was likely me trying to hide my grimaced face…
What do to about Tinkerbell Half Marathon and Princess Half Marathon!
I have been worried ever since getting pulled from activity 3 months ago. I cheated and finished out boot camp before truly stopping, but the pain has not ceased after shots, rest, ice, meds, etc. I feel I could still run with my plantar fasciitis. My Posterior Tibialis Tendonitis is the only concern. I do not want my foot to collapse. I will spare you the gore I found on Google..
I mean I finished my 10k back in September with PF, KT tape, and some meds. (I finished in about 1:07 ish)
I ran a mile with my injury and it was not only extremely painful, but it took me over 13 minutes.
I have not done anything regularly in almost 2 fully months. I was ready to pull out of Tinkerbell until I talked to Laurel. I mean I was ready to just show up support my friend and have a great weekend and defer runDisney- but!
I do not want to miss out on my special pink Coast to Coast medal. People if you have never held a runDisney medal, it is just as special as the races. I have no idea where we will be next year, new base, pregnant?, in school?, oh the military life. I just could not get my head around going to Disneyland and not finishing this race because I can’t guarantee ever getting to do this again!
Thanks to Laurel I am super excited to try anyways. If I find myself in a lot of pain, the worst thing that happens is I throw myself down on the side of the road and wait for the sweeper bus to come get me. Just kidding, but no really…
I did a VERY modified T-25 yesterday and my ankle is in agony. I will be there at Tinkerbell, I will be walking slow. ( Thank GOODNESS I was faster once to qualify for a earlier corral.) I will be wearing a boot of a brace. I will finish.
So in a nutshell that is going to round out my 2013. I would love to do a super cute photo filled recap of the year, but to be honest my husband took my computer with him on deployment, so I blog on my phone the last few months 99% of the time and just check it on the computer if it looks funny on my phone. So cute posts take too long on phones. 😉
( Ps. Sorry about the 100% lack of photos. Follow me on instagram for a Daily dose of random fun 😉 )
