Chuck E. Cheese’s – Where a kid can still be a kid after over 40 years.
Chuck E. Cheese’s remodeled: Old favorites, and new fun.
The motto isn’t “Where a kid can be a kid” for over 40 years without reason. Known as a great space to host birthday parties for kids, I think with the new renovations it’s a fantastic spot for a family date night. Grab some pizza and entertain your children with games while you eat!
Last week we were invited to the grand re-opening of the Syracuse, NY Chuck E. Cheese’s. We had so much fun celebrating Chuck E. Cheese’s with a ribbon cutting, tour of the new restaurant, and PLAY! My three year old has told every-single-person he has met about that night and re-tells it on Facetime to Grandma and Grandpa every call.
Chuck E. Cheese’s is not just for Birthdays, but the Birthday packages are EPIC. The remodel created more space, open and right near the new interactive dance floor. I KNOW if my toddler were not too busy exploring the entertainment, he would have tried to re-do his third birthday right then and there.
What do you think of when you recall memories of Chuck E. Cheese’s? For me, I remember a dark closed arcade-like feeling, but it had been since I was a teen for my last visit. When I got to visit the newly remodeled Syracuse, New York location, I was blown away how they were able to keep the fun feel, but modernize the atmosphere for parents and children alike. It is bright and fresh, with a clear open view throughout the entire store. My son is a runner: of the fastest, sneakiest variety. This was the first indoor play place I have ever let him run free to play without my help, but it was all thanks to their new open layout. I could see him in my helicopter mom eyes at all times; it was nice to have this chill atmosphere to relax and enjoy.
There are so many new games added! I kept saying it reminded me of the old games I used to play but NEW. I know, simplistic, but it is the best way I could explain it. Some had a fun “retro” feel, with modern screens. Nothing stood out as old or new- just seamlessly worked together. My 3-year-old, and ten month old? You could find them riding what he named “Tiny Train” Around and around for about 2 hours. There was nothing at his eye level he couldn’t do, which was great not to have to steer him to age-appropriate games, those that were had a much higher reach or needed too much of my assistance. He was loving independence too much for those requirements.
The decor is not something my child cares about, but it was nice to see clean, modern wall art/signs directing you from the prizes and pizza to the largely expanded open birthday party area.
When you come in there is a fresh salad bar right next to where you order; the screens are easy to read and check out what you need for your family.
Food made fresh
Speaking of the food. Let’s face it: Not all restaurants cater to kids — and that’s okay! But for those nights when you want to dine out as a whole family, picking something everyone will enjoy will ensure a fun evening to remember instead of a stressful one. Everyone will leave satisfied.
When you come in there is a fresh salad bar right next to where you order; the screens are easy to read and check out what you need for your family. I love the deal options that simplified it for us. 4 drinks, a pizza, done! You can see the pizza’s prepping where you pick up; my younger son was enjoying the little buzzer that told us when to go pick up.
We ordered a large pepperoni with our boys in mind, but there were SO many more options than that. It had lightly flavored garlic crust, and you could tell it was crafted fresh to order. I found out there is a lunch buffet too that runs Monday- Friday perfectly between nap times 11am-3pm. Fresh ingredients, games, and space for my three-year-old to independently play as we suffer the cold Syracuse winter? Sign me UP! I want a weekly pass. Speaking of PASSES – Continue on friends. You must see the All You Can Play Pass!
The Play Pass
So I have covered the environment in which we have found a family favorite my three-year-old is still talking about a week later – daily. Every 15 minutes. ON REPEAT. Asking when we are going back to Chuck E. Cheese’s! Here is the best part for me, and my kids: All You Can Play Passes!
The play pass is why he could have total and free rein, and practice his patience and turn-taking skills without me.
All he had to do was:
–Tap– *wait for sound and lights* Ride/Play! Move on to the next fun activity. For however long we wanted to load it for: that play band was good to go. I noticed there was still a “token” option with it took this many play points on either a card or band. Each game or ride took a certain amount and functioned like electronic tokens. This, in my opinion, is great for an older kid who would understand this: My kid just wanted to DO IT ALL and a time limit purchased worked better for us.
When we took a break to eat, he could pause his time before heading to the booth to eat. Tap the little kiosk at the game exists and off to dive into delicious food!
Then he could go start playing again until his time was up. I could go on and on about how much I love this vs. tokens for kids of all ages, but you can click here to go check out more information on the New Play Pass and All You Can Play options!
Since my kid mostly loved the rides, he didn’t earn tickets as quickly, but regardless the All You Can Play is a new way to play at Chuck E. Cheese’s that allows kids to play more games and win more tickets!
He still was able to get a ton of prizes, and the ticket muncher was a hilarious game for him in itself. If he did not have those tickets to hold I don’t think he would have understood the game/prize connection!
I love that the staff is so careful with security, too. The staff stamps each person in the family with a set of matching numbers and checks every single person that comes in or out to make sure kids stay safe. This is far from new, but as a kid nothing I took notice of. My husband and I both found peace of mind in this type of security check point. It truly is the perfect restaurant for a family outing day or night!
Thank you to Chuck E. Cheese’s for inviting us to share your grand re-opening! I am sure we will see you again, soon <3
