25 Tips to a Healthier Holidays- Tip 4

Tip 4: Eat in advance!

So I am not saying you need to eat a small meal or anything- but I realized this before Thanksgiving:

Everyone was starving themselves all day to binge at the Thanksgiving meal! It could have just been the people I talked to, or Facebook status updates I saw- but It was enough to make me take note.

This goes against EVERYTHING every health, diet, training plan, etc. No plan says starve until you binge on massive calories, and eat even more because you are in starvation mode. Actually eating a few snacks or healthy small meals before you indulgent meal will help you avoid the calorie binge and pass on 2nd servings of things you should have only had a half serving of.

Success!

I will have to say that I had great success with eating a few small meals before the Thanksgiving dinner. I did not even eat the pie, and I am still not craving the pumpkin cheesecake at all. I knew what I saved my calories for and oh yes- I indulged but I am confident I will step on the scale Tuesday ( AT THE DOCTOR! ) and have a loss because although I definitely overindulged I am letting it just be that. Just a little indulgence without overdoing it. It is so easy this time of year to suckered into all the treats and “ needing them” – When really a small treat is just enough and you will not look back on this holiday regretting you didn’t have two pies or a 4th cookie, you will just look back on the party, family, or fun you had.
