The Holiday season is upon us, how are you avoiding weight gain this year?
I am baffled by the scale this morning after Thanksgiving. I mean I was pretty careful and I even skipped the pie! Whatever I want to excuse for it, salt, bloat, carbs, etc. There a few extra pounds that were not on there yesterday, and that just is not ok with me. Today started my first day of my 24 Day Challenge, and I am so excited it starts off with a cleanse portion. I have over indulged a few too many times and before it gets out of hand and becomes *gasp* a habit I am taking control. I have never cleansed before, so I am thankful this one is supposed to be gentle and is not full of drinking lemonade and pepper- or whatever. I love food, which is why this season is terrible.
- Deployed Husband
- Holiday goodies and must haves
- Social activities revolving around food
- Traveling
- The list could go on and on
So although those are just a few of my seasonal down falls I got to thinking while I do my challenge I am going to look up and use one healthy tip a day. I am pretty happy I am doing this challenge now as I am focused on avoiding the foods that I so do not need, and starting my new year off ahead of the game. I actually do not have to change my diet for this challenge other than avoid things I should be avoiding anyways. So I am going to donate any of my holiday baking to single military men here on base, and nope I am not going to have a single Christmas goodie until Christmas Day!
Why not now?
You might have re-read that last sentence. I know there will be temptations, but I do not need to indulge, I need to improve my health! I have gotten to this weight by “start on Monday’s” and “next weeks” , or “but it is only once a year”.
Tip number one: Start right now.
No New Year’s resolution to lose weight, no “I will start after”, No “ After I use up / or finish *insert terrible food item here*.” JUST NO.
If your goal for wellness isn’t revolving around food like mine, try starting to walk today. Or make a list of things you would like to improve like pushups, sit-ups, anything that gets you looking at improving your overall wellness and health really!
By taking a long hard look at what you want to change, and making a plan now you will be a MONTH ahead of all those people at the gym after New Years, and you will already be a healthier you by then!
